In the message which was published today, Mohammad Javad Zarif congratulated April 30 as the Persian Gulf National Day on the all who have coexisted peacefully in the Persian Gulf region for thousands of years, saying that “it is a historical fact and a valuable heritage from our ancestors.”
The Iranian foreign minister went on to appreciate the energy resources in the Persian Gulf region, adding the Persian Gulf “must be a strong region and a territory for cooperation, and endogenous security and peace.”
Zarif once again called for forming a dialogue forum in the Persian Gulf, emphasizing “only through dialogue, cooperation and confidence building, the idea of forming a dialogue forum becomes a reality.”
Persian Gulf National Day marks the anniversary of the day the Portuguese colonial forces were driven out of the Strait of Hormuz in the Capture of Ormuz (1622).
